Cam woke up and called to his Mom and Dad that he was getting ready to go for a fun day at the Pittsburgh Zoo. He was very excited and picked out his clothes for the das adventure. Soon everyone was in the car with their seat belts buckled and ready for the ride to the zoo.

When cam arrived at the zoo he went to the ticket office and asked to buy three tickets. He handed the ticket seller his money and he gave one to his Dad and one to his Mom. They all walked to the gate where you enter the zoo and gave the ticket taker their ticket’s and walked quickly towards all the animals. As they got closer to the first exhibit a man came up to talk to them. He said “Good morning, my name is Pete and I am the Zoo keeper.” Cam said “Hi! Mr. Zoo Keeper, my name is Cam and these are my parents. We are here to visit the zoo today and I am very excited to see all the animals.” The Zoo Keeper said “Cam we are so happy that you and your parent’s are visiting us today and I would love to walk around with you while you visit. Would that be okay?” cam was so excited that the zoo keeper was such a nice man and was going to walk with them and tell them about all the animals that live in the zoo. “that would be great! Mr. Zoo keeper, we would love to have you go with us for our adventure at the zoo.” So off they went.

While they were walking and the Zoo Keeper was giving them a tour of the zoo and explaining where all the animals came from and what they eat, and how they live, a beautiful peacock walked right up to them. Cam said “Hello pretty peacock. Your feathers are so beautiful. You have so many colors on your tail and you walk like you are very proud of them.” “Well, hello Cam!” said the peacock. “I

m so happy that you noticed by very wonderful colored feathers I show them to the people I like and I like you. I walk around all day in the zoo putting my feathers up and down. I look for the people I know appreciate and like me for the gift of showing them my pretty body. You, am are someone very special and I asked my friend Pete the Zoo Keeper if I could talk to you today and show you and your Mom and Dad my beautiful feathers.” Cam was so happy the peacock liked him and was waiting to visit with him. And he was also happy that the zoo keeper gave the peacock permission to say hello and show them his very pretty and special feather. “Thank you Mr. Zoo keeper, thank you Mr. Peacock.” said Cam.

While Cam was visiting with his friend the handsome peacock, the peacock told him where he came from, what he eats, and were he sleeps. He said his family lived in other countries such as Pakistan, India, Burma, and the Hawaiian Islands, before they came to the United States of America and the Pittsburgh Zoo. He said they liked to eat bugs and grains, and when they are tired they fly up onto the branches of trees for the night. He told him about his peacock family and how it makes him so happy to show all the boys and girls and their families and friends his pretty feathers. He told Cam that they would be friends forever and he would hope that Cam would visit him and Pete the Zoo Keeper many more times in the future and while Cam was growing to be a man. He said that he hoped Cam would remember him and would always say hello and let him know how he was doing. Cam said he was very happy that and the peacock had become friends and that Pete the Zoo Keeper was so nice to have them meet.

Cam told the peacock that he lived in Guatemala before he came to the United States of America and that he lived in Murrysville, Pennsylvania, now with his Mom and Dad. He said he liked to eat yogurt, bread, and snacks, and would go to sleep on a bed in his very own room. So the peacock and Cam had good stories to tell each other. They both started to walk in different directions.  But now it was time to go home. Cam asked Pete the Zoo Keeper if he could find his handsome friend the peacock so he could say goodbye. His friend the peacock was off walking around showing other boys and girls his beautiful feathers. But when they looked around there was Mr. Peacock standing tall with his handsome colored feathered tail open with pride standing right behind them. “I came to say goodbye to you Cam and your Mom and Dad. Please, come back to visit me and tell your friends to come and visit too. You are my friend and friends always think of each other with happiness.” Cam told the peacock that whenever he saw beautiful colors, like a rainbow or box full of crayons, he would think of his new and very handsome friend the peacock. He told Pete the Zoo Keeper that he liked all the stories and information he gave about the animals. Everyone waved goodbye until the next visit to the zoo. It was a wonderful day.
